|The 2Bears charity has a mission to support the work of local charities in Southern India. We work with organisations who strive towards collective self-reliance and the development of people through community participation. Our role is to provide funding for our partner charities. We do this through donation, fund raising events and selling of products produced by the organisation.|
|In 2009 a visit was organised to the People’s
Craft and Training Centre
to see at first hand the work done by humanitarian organisations in Southern India. We were so impressed with the dedication of the staff of PCTC that we wanted
to contribute further.
|2Bears was formed in 2010 and registered as a charity in the same year. It was designed as vehicle for channelling funds into organisations who are dedicated to improving the lives of disabled and deprived children and adults in Southern India. 2bears is a non-profit making charity. All the funds raised go directly to one our partner charities.|
| The name of the charity stems from a handmade gift
given to us by
of Staff of PCTC; the gift became a symbol of the humane dedication of Xavier Mariadoss (Founder of people's Craft Training Center) and his staff and
it was appropriate that this became the name of our charity.
|A further trip was made to PCTC in 2010. During the same trip, we visited Prema Vasam, an orphanage and centre for disability in Chennai. As with PCTC, we were deeply moved by the dedication of Mr. Selvyn Roy (Founder of Prema Vasam) and his staff and we vowed to support the children of the centre to the best of our abilities.|
